TPI Screen 9… Lower Quarter Rotation.

Today is the Lower Quarter Rotation.

We are looking to see how much rotation you have in the

Hip

Knee

And Foot

All in one go.

Most of the guys I see in the clinic have 40 degrees or less.

PGA tour numbers we are looking for are 60 Degrees

If you have a huge lack of internal rotation

Your golf pro at some point has probably got you to turn your feet out at address.

Check this link out to see how the test is done.

http://www.mytpi.com/articles/screening/the_lower_quarter_rotation_test

We test both legs, for backswing and downswing rotation.

What can failing this test do to your golf

Sway,

Slide,

Reverse Spine ( BACK PAIN )

Hanging Back,

Early Extension

And just to remind you

If you reverse spine.

It's not a case of if you have back pain

It's a case of when.

The Friday sessions will be back soon

Happy Saturday

Weed, Sex And Fur

I watched the movie TED last night,

Seen it before but forgot how funny it is to
see a teddy and a man have a fight.

Quick recap

The fight comes from the fact that Marky Mark
loses his Mrs cos of his pal, Ted.

Ted is a weed smoking, brass smashing TV
watching Teddy bear who is obviously a blast
to be around.

(and actually reminded me of a pal of mine)

Marky Mark's Mrs is pissed Cos he keeps
spending too much time having a blast with
his pal.

(Remember those days dude)

The shit hits the fan when he leaves his Mrs
at a party and goes off to party with flash
Gordon.

Marky Mark finally discovers that he is
responsible for his own actions and that
blaming others just makes him a pussy.

We have all done this my man and when we stop
we can move forward

We're are all responsible for the current
depth of shit we're standing in.

If our job sucks guess what?

it's OUR job

If our body is not working correctly guess
what?

WE put it in its current state.

I know this stuff cos I've done it,

For me it was realizing that if I ever wanted
to get this off the ground

I had to stop waiting for the right time,
stop blaming anyone else and make it fit
around what I was currently doing.

Have you ever thought about trying meditation
but the time wasn't right ( check the
research on meditation dude it will blow your
mind)

How about challenging your thoughts so you
can stop putting things off and worrying
about criticism

What if you think you cant train?

Im gonna let into a little secret

>>You can't train cos you DONT train.<<

Look at it this way, if you hadn't played
golf in years but wanted to start playing
golf again .

Would you keep putting it off cos you hadn't
played?

or

would you say fuck it play

knowing it's gonna be tough but YOU'll get
better,

the same thing with anything you do, first
time will be tough

but at some point WE need to step up and take
responsibility for where we ARE.

PS Listen dude if you are tired of putting
things off

No Dog Shit

Found a new park near us and took the kids
there, it was quality fella.

Plenty of room, not too many dogs, and
obviously not too much dog shit.

Just a note

If a dog every joins the family the shit WILL
be picked up

Not saying enjoyable so, but it will be
picked up.

I would like to randomly stuff the dog shit
down the owners throat and with every tasty
bite I would be shouting In a drill sergeant
voice

"Pick up the shit, pick up the shit"

Anyway

We were able to play frisbee and football
without too much interference.

The kids loved it and came home exhausted.

It's the first time in a long time that we've
been in the park

and haven't had to clock watch or drag them
away cos one wants to go and one wants to
stay

And this place was just a ten minute walk
away

It got me thinking

The things we need are sometimes just around
the corner

How does that apply to other things

look at it this way

I'm focused on constant growth and my targets
are high

sometimes they can seem very far away but
what YOU want could be just around the
corner.

My fitness target in my F5 was well on track,

was getting better everyday and felt awesome,

my injury set me back and my targets changed
but the finish can be just be around the
corner

If I build out a plan that works

We get so caught up in the long term goal
that we forget where we've come from,

what we've accomplished

and

that our starting place NOW is much closer
than where we started.

Stay the course my man

Because all we have to do is close the gap to
our goals every day

Close the gap EVERY DAY

Its a case of first thing in the morning
asking yourself this question

"What can YOU do today to close the gap?"

And at the end of the day

ask yourself this question

"Did YOU close the gap today?"

If you did regardless of what you pulled off
guess what dude

It was a good fucking day cos you made
progress

Sweet Geezer

An Ass Kicking

An ass kicking from the universe

Listen dude, the universe is just waiting to
kick your ass,

It doesn't care if you've had time to warm
up.

Or if you've had enough rest.

It certainly tried to do me recently.

Whilst spending some quality time in the
garden with the family,

Obviously when it was hot dude

I had to make my way round the bouncy castle
to get the ball that had been kicked over it.

I ducked under the washing line,

On my way back up,

I smashed my head on a metal plat pot holder.

This solid metal object probably made from
valyrian steal also had a newly installed
porcelain plant pot.

Honestly, anyone that had seen it i'm sure
that a 1960's batman speech bubble saying

"Av that son" was there.

And dude it floored me, And ended up leaving
a massive egg on my head.

on the floor in front of the wife (trying her
hardest not to laugh and the kids who have
just seen their hero be treated like a bitch
by nature)

You could say it knocked some sense into me
but the fact is it just made me realize how
unaware I was in the garden

Regardless of where your are and how well you
know your surroundings if your are not
present,

You can get a punch in the head.

Be aware that the universe is always waiting
to kick your ass

Whats the lesson?

Being present, focused on the process and not
the outcome will prepare you for life's right
hook.

If you are constantly focused on the outcome
and not the process you may take certain
things for granted

This is where you get injured, doing either
the wrong thing to the wrong part at the
wrong time.

Or

In golf, you're not focused on the shot in
hand and you're too in the future or too
worried about your score, that's when you
will get the big miss.

And now your card is fucked.

The best way to stay focused and on track is
to break the task down into smaller chunks
and check you progress in each,

This is why we screen

We can see if you are making progress in 1
area of your body as part of the main goal to
get better.

Lat Length Test Stats

It's Stat Sunday

Titleist stats for TPI screen number 8

The Lat Length Test.

Out of around 20,000 amateur golfers tested

Compared to the PGA Tour based on the golfers
tested ( around 100)

Both had roughly the same numbers

So you could say that this test may not be as
important to golf (Based on this study)

However an inhibited lat can cause a lot of
problems in the forearms and wrists

In the additional lat test, The reach roll
and lift ( more specific to the lat muscle )
the pros were 20% better.

Get screened like the pros.
