GOLF PERFORMANCE THERAPY
If back, hip, shoulder or other pain is stopping you playing your best golf, the answer may not be another swing lesson.
Your body may simply no longer be able to make the movements your golf swing requires.
I help golfers identify and address the physical limitations behind their pain, restricted movement and loss of power — so they can get back to enjoying their golf.
Start with your complete Golf Body & Injury Assessment —
“For any student I have with pain or movement , John is my first recommendation ”
YOUR PAIN MAY NOT BE THE REAL PROBLEM
Does any of this sound familiar?
Your back starts hurting during or after a round
Your hip feels tight and you struggle to rotate
Your shoulder or elbow hurts when you swing
You've lost distance you used to have
Your swing feels restricted
Your body feels increasingly stiff
You've had treatment before, but the problem keeps returning
You're changing your golf swing to compensate for what your body can't do
You can treat where it hurts.
But if you don't understand why the problem is happening in the first place, you may never solve the underlying issue.
That's why I start with the golfer — not just the painful body part.
DON'T JUST TREAT THE PAIN. BUILD THE GOLFER BACK.
A golf swing requires mobility, stability, strength, speed and power working together.
If your hips can't rotate properly, your body has to find that movement somewhere else.
If your upper back is restricted, something else has to compensate.
If your body can't physically get into the positions your golf coach is asking for, hitting another 500 balls isn't necessarily going to solve it.
That's why my approach follows a simple order:
PAIN → MOVEMENT → STRENGTH → SPEED → POWER → GOLF
First, we find out what your body can and can't do.
Then we build the plan around you.
START WITH YOUR GOLF BODY & INJURY ASSESSMENT
€100 Comprehensive Golf-Specific Assessment
Before recommending treatment, I want to understand what's actually happening.
Your assessment can include:
TPI Golf Fitness Screen
A golf-specific movement screen developed by the Titleist Performance Institute to assess the physical capabilities required in the golf swing.
We look at areas including:
Hip mobility
Pelvic control
Upper-body rotation
Shoulder mobility
Lower-body mobility
Balance
Stability
Core control
Golf posture and movement
SFMA Assessment & Breakouts
If pain or dysfunctional movement is identified, I can investigate the movement pattern in greater depth using the Selective Functional Movement Assessment approach and appropriate breakout testing.
This helps us distinguish between different movement limitations rather than simply assuming the painful area is the source of the problem.
Your Golf & Injury History
We'll discuss:
Where you experience pain
When it occurs
Previous injuries
What treatments you've already tried
How your body affects your golf
What you want to get back to doing
YOUR PERSONAL ROADMAP
At the end of the assessment, I'll explain what we've found and what I believe your next steps should be.
If I believe I can help you, I'll recommend a personalised treatment and performance plan.
If I don't believe I'm the appropriate person to help with your problem, I'll tell you.
Golf Body & Injury Assessment: €100
THIS ISN'T JUST ABOUT GETTING YOU OUT OF PAIN
Getting out of pain matters.
But for a golfer, that's only part of the job.
I don't want to simply help you feel better lying on a treatment table.
I want your body to work better when you play golf.
That means once pain is under control, we can look at the physical qualities that allow you to perform:
Mobility
Can your hips, shoulders and spine move through the ranges your swing requires?
Stability
Can you control those positions?
Strength
Can your body produce and absorb the forces involved in the golf swing?
Speed
Can you move efficiently and quickly?
Power
Can you transfer that physical ability into a more powerful golf swing?
The ultimate objective is simple:
GET YOU BACK DOING WHAT YOU LOVE — AND BUILD A BODY CAPABLE OF PLAYING BETTER GOLF.
WHY WORK WITH JOHN SETON?
I've been working in golf performance since 2012, combining golf-specific movement assessment, ART soft-tissue therapy and physical performance.
But my interest in this started long before it became my profession.
I HAD TO FIX MY OWN BODY FIRST.
I suffered serious back problems when I was younger.
That experience ultimately led me down the path of understanding movement, treatment and physical performance.
I've since applied the same principles to my own golf — improving how my body moves and building a better, more powerful swing.
I don't believe in asking golfers to do things I'm unwilling to do myself.
I continue to assess, train, study and work on my own body and golf performance.
My professional training includes:
Titleist Performance Institute — Level 2
Medical
Golf
Power
Junior
ART® Spine Certified
BTEC Level 5 Soft Tissue Therapy
Level 3 Personal Trainer
SFMA Level 2
Plus additional education in nutrition and more than a decade working with golfers and human movement.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOUR ASSESSMENT?
Your assessment isn't designed to sell you endless treatment sessions.
It's designed to answer:
WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY MOVEMENT?
WHAT'S CONTRIBUTING TO MY PROBLEM?
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO NEXT?
If treatment is appropriate, I may recommend a structured Golf Recovery Plan based on your findings.
Rather than treating you indefinitely, we'll have a specific objective:
Reduce pain → restore movement → build physical capacity → return to golf.
Depending on your goals, we can then progress beyond simply being pain-free and work on developing strength, speed and power for golf.
YOUR FIRST STEP ISN'T ANOTHER TREATMENT.
IT'S FINDING OUT WHAT YOUR BODY ACTUALLY NEEDS.
If you're a golfer in Moraira or the surrounding Costa Blanca area struggling with pain, restricted movement or declining physical performance, let's start by assessing the golfer behind the golf swing.
