When It's Better To Fail

When It's Better To Fail

With today being the first “real day" that the world gets to go after any new targets they set over the new year, I’m gonna say the opposite to what everyone else will be telling you.

And that is there are a few times when failing at your new year's targets may be the best thing for you.

You might ”think” that it's the worst thing to do but there is one time when it will actually be the best thing for long term results...

And that's the real point... you need to change the way you think... if you want to change your results... because... as soon as you hit a barrier, an obstacle or resistance from others, you will look for a reason to quit or worse to jump to something else...

Looking at what others are doing and wonder if you should be focused on that instead.

Why is doing something else worse than failing?

Because if you fail you have to sack up and own that decision and assess what went wrong, but...

Jumping from one thing to another means you get to hide from your own reality and blame the thing that you were doing, something else, someone else, whatever you can point the finger at and shift any blame from yourself.

But failing means you can look and assess why you couldn’t do it...

Was it a lack of Skillsets, did you not know what to do and what not to do...

Or,

Was it not having the right mindset to continue when stuff got spicy and tough when it seems like the whole world is against you pulling it off.

Unbreakable Rule #1 “It’s always your fault”

If it’s your fault you can do something about it, take some action or at worst learn what not to do next time.

But, if you believe it’s someones or something else's fault you become powerless to do grow and improve.

Unbreakable Golfers is built for a certain type of golfer.

Who has a certain type of mindset that they will do anything to get better...

There are only a few like that, most just want to buy more equipment and think that their results are tied up to what they use not who that need to become to get better.

That fella knows that he can leverage his crazy unexplainable addiction to golf and everything around it, to look and feel younger while hitting the ball further...

Yet that takes work, and the best results (the ones that stay with you) are on the other side of the hard work...

Any golfers that come in, I want them to win but I can't do the work for them... If I want your results more than you do then we are both fucxed...

But if you are willing to sack up, fail and go again then the Fairway 4 system can get you started, and stop stopping.

Man Shop Blindness

I’m staring at the big metal shelves in the shop, aimlessly looking up and down each one covered with all the stuff similar to what I want...

Just not exactly what I want...

I’m now looking for a third shop assistant to sort this out as the first two I had told “no Gracias” when I was asked if I needed any help...

I didn’t need their help then, at that point I had decided I would figure this out for myself.

But now, after taking twice as long as I should have I’m suffering from “Man shop blindness”

Some people would have you believe that it’s called “male shop blindness” but sod them lot...

You know what I’m going on about as well.

It’s the part of us that refuses to ask for directions, or help, or guidance because of two things..

Testosterone and

The quest.

The first one makes us do things that women will never understand, with no real justification other than it looks fun or funny.

The second one is based on all TV and movies we saw growing up that makes us think that finding something on our own is the achievement.

Either way, when ”time” becomes an issue most men are happy to submit because above all we just want I get it done.

This is why we will Struggle for ages in golf, fitness and business for much longer than we need to, because we are determined to sort it out by ourselves.

But, when the deadline is getting close, things change we have a shift in perspective (how many times have you considered having a lesson the week before a big match)...

However,

Progress comes from daily action to a committed plan

So if you feel that you need a plan, more testosterone or even want better results than you currently think is possible then

The Flintstones Motor

The Flintstones Motor

During the VID of Co I purchased a new motor, which was bought from a local garage.

My thinking behind going to a garage was that if anything major goes wrong "at least it can be sorted on the warranty" and not have to worry about too much...

2 months later, the air suspension drops to the floor the day before an airport run..

Think of a rap video from the '90s with a car bouncing up and down and that my friend is my motor.

Now, this mystery fault is a sneaky sod and apparently only shows up when I have the motor and not at all when the garage has it for over a week. (very cunning this fault, very cunning), which means when I leave the garage, within a short time frame I'm hitting potholes like Fred Flintstone.

And also this not covered on the warranty (who would have thought ah).

So after taking it to the main dealer and them asking me to kindly "bend over" I have been left with a few options and with air suspension they ain't guaranteed to sort the issue, I have decided to rip the air suspension out and put in a normal one.

Why?

I just want it sorted... And refuse to continue to add band-aids and want the issue sorted all together.

See in this case it's the system that is the problem, and I want the peace of mind to know I can drive for as far and long as I need and not have the worry of breaking down.

The same with my body...

I was pissed off for years as my back would mess up my ability to play golf and my mind would mess up my ability to stay consistent, to getting better and improving,

So rather then giving up and trying something new, searching for the answer.

Sometimes you just have to rip it out and start again.

Is your Body tight and feel like you can't swing the best you can?

Your confidence affecting your decision making causing more self-doubt?

Eating shxt all the time and waiting till tomorrow to stop?

Maybe you just have to rip up what you have been doing that is not getting you what you want, try something new and finally get the results you desire.

If you do what you've always done you will always have what you always got.

OR

You could do something different, learn something new and if you take the actions required you might succeed.

Anyway, I've got to go shopping for some dinosaur food but if you want something new...

It's here.

Even Frodo's Feet Couldn't Hack It.

Even Frodo's Feet Couldn't Hack It.

Not sure if you've seen The Lord of the Rings films, but one Hobbit named Frodo goes on a long walk across land, water, rock and snow...

And he does this in bare feet, without a splinter or even a bit of lego causing him any pain on those un-shoed feet...

Not once does he catch his little toe while walking past an object that he knows was there... (no ironing boards left out unattended in those films).

The cold obviously doesn't bother him either as in all 3 films there is no mention of socks or slippers when things got a bit frosty.

But that would change if Frodo walked across my tiled floor in the middle of the night, as it can feel beyond cold-like walking across the arctic...

At one point, he would have to shoo the penguins away...

I do miss genuine English carpet covering all walkable surfaces leaving just the cold tiled floor for the bathroom..

That's the thing about being in a Spanish villa as opposed to an English House, you don't realise the simple things that you always rely on and old habits die hard...

It's the same with your body.

The flexibility and strength start to decline as you get older and if you are not taking measures to stop that you may find your body and your golf game out in the cold, with chilblains running through your shafts as you come up short on every green.

It might not be practical to lay a carpet down for your body, but you can certainly build more robust measures for keeping out the cold.

Lazy Action

Lazy Action

“I’ll sort that out later”

Easy to say, easy to do yet it can be the biggest anchor to a clear mind...

I know for me, the one thing I keep putting off is the one thing I should tackle next...

If it’s on your mind all the time it’s stealing mental energy that can cause,

Tiredness,

Overwhelm,

And distraction, which leads to the killer of all action and that is sedating...

Whatever is your choice of sedating for you, be it food, booze, Tv, Facebook or YouTube...

What if that sedating could have been avoided by just dealing with the shxt you keep putting off...

I work much better under pressure, however, being under pressure is a tough place to live constantly...

So I have had to build and use systems, tools and action plans that stop me being a victim and just get me to do what needs to be done...

Habits build lazy action.....

That’s what a habit is at the most fundamental level, an action you take on autopilot that breeds a result...

You get better results if the habits you take move you forward to your targets or around the obstacles that hold you back, rather then into sedating which just pushes the target farther away.

If you use your behaviour to build habits that help you then the need for motivation and willpower is diminished because you can take the right action on autopilot.

The Fairway 4 system can be put into any issue to build the right habits and behaviours...

The concepts of that and the way I use it are explained in the Unbreakable Golfers App

Or you could just sedate,
